There's Nothing like a Good Book

Did you know that Holman Library houses over 25,000 print books? We have books on every subject under the sun, from Achilles, the Azores and Aggression in Adolescents to Zoology, Zaire and Zakat. Our book collection is designed in large part to support your education, but we also have some books just for pleasure reading.

I found one of the best books I read this year on our new book shelf.

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson is a wonderfully well-researched history of the Great Migration of American Blacks from the South to the Northeast, Midwest and West. Wilkerson weaves together period history and analysis with the stories of three people who lived through the era. Wilkerson does a great job of demonstrating the living legacy of slavery, racism and Jim Crow in this disturbing, but very readable work.
